New Worship Arts Director

Back in October of 2019, our Worship Arts Director, Jared McCormick, left the sunny skies of Arizona to return to the one and only Hoosier State, Indiana. Since then, we have been on a journey in search of his replacement. For the majority of those years, we employed Slingshot Group to conduct a nationwide search on our behalf.

Because we have such wonderful people serving in our Worship Arts Ministry, you likely haven’t even noticed that the position remains vacant. I want to extend A BIG THANK YOU to Laura Silva for the ways she has filled the gap for the past two years! She has attended staff meetings, helped plan, organize, and lead our worship team and our weekend worship gatherings. She has helped develop other worship leaders and created the slides that you see accompanying messages. She has served beautifully in this role at a critical time while we looked for the person to do it full-time. We appreciate her talent, servant’s heart, and humility!

We have been looking for over five years for the right person to lead the ministry in the role of Worship Arts Director and the search is finally over!
When Stephanie Pilkington and her family came to town, they quietly slipped in without any fanfare.  No one knew that she had previously served for nearly four years as Worship Pastor following her graduation from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Ministry.

Last Spring, she started serving in our worship ministry and when she led worship at the Women’s Ignite event in April, there was something about her heart of worship that was noticed.

She began leading more often last Summer and in the Fall I started praying about whether she was the one we had been looking for to lead that ministry. Then on November 5th, I received this text from her: “Good morning Pastor Randy! I wanted to reach out and ask for your guidance. I’m feeling called to ministry so heavy on my heart, and believe God is asking me to step into more at our church. I would appreciate your guidance and/or prayer.”

That is how God set things in motion. From there, I connected with Tessa who then put Stephanie through our full interview process. I am thrilled to share that she started last week in the role of full-time Worship Arts Director!

I do my best to prioritize worship in my life and in our church because when we see God as He is, we can face the challenges in life for what they really are! I look forward to every Sunday together where we can give God the only gift He hasn’t given us first!
