Prospective Elder Comment Period

ELDER RECOMMENDATION PROCESS

Summary
Each year we initiate the Elder Selection Process by eliciting recommendations from the congregation, the elders invite a number of candidates to a breakfast that we fix together and then talk about what eldership at TMC entails. From there, we select some for interviews and then the elders recommend to you who we think should be installed this year.
We always have more people qualified to be an elder than serve as an elder at any given time. We also don’t evaluate each candidate on qualifications alone but also whether the timing is right for them to serve in this capacity.
Candidate
This year we are recommending that Chad Atherton be installed for a three year term as elder of TMC.
Chad and his wife Alli currently serve in the hosting ministry in Guest Services where Alli actually leads the ministry.
Chad’s maturity, his  passion for the mission of Christ and his grasp of our mission were impressive! He is committed to the bible as the Word of God, has been using it for years to lead and disciple his family, and his commitment to being a disciple who makes disciples, who make disciples were among the reasons we believe that Chad is ready for this responsibility now.
I personally have known Alli from church camp when she was in grade school, I coached her in softball through middle school, and our daughter Cara roomed with her for three years in college. I was delighted when they moved to Sierra Vista and chose TMC.
With this being our elders’ recommendation to you that Chad be installed on December 18th, you have two weeks to comment (affirm or deny) the selection of Chad for this roll beginning on November 27th - December 11th.
Scriptures to consider are 1 Timothy 3:1-11; 4:15-16; 5:17; Titus 1:5-11; 1 Peter 5:1-4.
