Last Week to Sign Up for Project Serve
Our annual “Put our money where our mouth is” outreach event is less than two weeks away! On Sunday, September 6, we cancel our worship gatherings to go serve our community. We say, “Outreach is the heartbeat of TMC,” and this is how we prove it as well as let people experience the love of Jesus first-hand through us.
Each team I have been on has created new relationships and deepened others. Don’t miss the opportunity to live out your faith shoulder-to-shoulder with one another
Five teams are full, but several others are still in need of volunteers. Please don’t wait or plan to walk up “to see who has the greatest need.” We can handle a few walk-ups, but as many as possible need to be assigned to teams in advance. Come sign up this Sunday, August 30, or do it right now here.
T-shirts are still available in two colors (blue and teal) for $10. They are going fast, so get yours soon!

OUTREACH PROJECTS TEAM
We don’t like to tell people “no,” but each year there are more projects than we are able to do for Project Serve. Either because they submitted their requests too late or because the work is beyond what our teams are able to do in the time allowed. The extra projects are referred to our special team of men and women who perform many different tasks such as clean up, repairs, or moving (loading and/or unloading trucks). This has become one of our greatest outreach ministries!
Mike Tailford has been leading this team for years, and we want to thank him for the skill and love he has brought to this ministry! Mike recently stepped down, but the ministry will continue. If this ministry is something you’d like to join, please contact robbi@thundermountain.org.
GROWING PAINS
I’m amazed each Sunday at how willing people are to pack in tight or sit in the outside overflow during the middle of services. 9:00 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. are duking it out for the largest attendance each week, with the winner often topping 300.
In modern churches, 70% of available seating capacity is considered to be “full” but our middle two services routinely experience 90-110% filled (we have two overflow areas, so please don’t call the Fire Marshall!).
With our building full, more service options unavailable, and the new building being a considerable time away, please consider one of the alternative services to make room for others (11:40 a.m. if you bring young children and 7:40 a.m. if you don’t).
“We love children and the noises they make” is one of our important axioms. Children are always welcome in our worship gatherings, largely because I remember traveling with our children and how we avoided churches who wouldn’t let us keep our children with us when visiting. At some point, however, children are encouraged to check out our outstanding graded Children’s Ministry (grades 5 and below at 9:00 a.m., 10:20 a.m., and 11:40 a.m.) both for the children’s benefit and for making the most room possible for newcomers.
May I suggest the possibility of people attending the 11:40 a.m. as a family but coming to serve in our Children’s Ministry at one of the more heavily attended gatherings? If you would like to explore the possibility of your involvement in helping TMC “Reach families by providing a safe environment where children enjoy coming to know, love, and serve Jesus!” then please email ryan@thundermountain.org and let him know that you’re interested in the possibility of joining his team!
If you are able to make the fourth gathering your primary service, you would not only help our “outreach” by making more room at the two most popular times for people checking things out, but you would also bless those who serve in Children’s Ministry at the fourth gathering by helping grow that ministry.
