Happy Anniversary, Church
It seems funny, but we have never celebrated our anniversary as a church. I have gone to the celebrations of the anniversaries of other churches, but for some reason, we have never held one of our own.
We existed for nearly 20 years before we built for the first time. Our first official service was in the Sierra Vista Middle School cafeteria when Calvary Chapel moved out of there to their first home on Hereford Road.

We rented a property on 3rd and Myer that has been one church or another to this day. It is satisfying to think of the blessing God brought to our community in that location, beginning with us.

Honestly, the bulk of the story of Thunder Mountain Church has been the faithfulness of God as He has spent the bulk of the time growing me into the leader our church needs. One name that I wish everyone could know was John Ligon. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel who was the one who wrote the first letter of interest for us to come and who not only gave me more authority to lead than I had earned, but he was also the person I would call when I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do. I can still hear him laughing over the phone in a kind and reassuring way that always let me know that God would come through.

I hope you can join us this Sunday for our first Anniversary Celebration after year number 35. A lot of fun is being planned! Pancakes will be served after the first service with hot dogs, cake and bounce houses out under the ramada after 9:30 and 11:00 gatherings. What a great opportunity to celebrate God's faithfulness that has sustained us over the past 3½ decades.
