Project Serve & More
"It's not too early to talk about Project Serve!"
On Sunday, September 6, we will once again cancel our regular worship gatherings and go out into our community to serve in practical ways.
We do this for two reasons. First, we want people who may have given up on church to experience the genuine and unconditional love of Jesus through His church. Second, we want to encourage our people to develop a lifestyle of ongoing service rather than viewing serving as a one-time event.
Our goal this year is 500 participants serving on 40 projects.
Last year, 376 people registered to serve on 27 teams across more than 25 projects. This year's goal is more ambitious because we want to mobilize many of the people who have recently begun attending Thunder Mountain Church but have not yet connected in meaningful ways.
The Project Serve Steering Team consists of Nick Pedersen, Barry Pemberton, Robbi Cleveland, my wife Kim, and me. We began meeting in December, and plans are now in full swing.
One change this year is that each small group is being asked to serve as a team and select a Team Lead from within the group. Our hope is to encourage groups to become more externally focused and to develop the habit of serving together at least once each semester. Groups are asked to select their Team Lead by the end of June and submit the appropriate form to the Ministry Support Center (church office).
We are also working to streamline the registration process to make signing up easier for everyone.

UPDATE ON THE OUTREACH CENTER
"What's taken so long?"
Coordinating the installation of electricity between the electrician and the city took longer than expected, but we're excited to report that the power is now on!
Our next steps include installing signage, setting up a security system, replacing lights, ripping out flooring, and thoroughly cleaning the building. Be on the lookout for an opportunity to help with cleaning and ripping out flooring. If you're interested in helping with the Outreach Center in any capacity, please contact the church office or email Robbi@thundermountain.org.
We also received confirmation that the existing HVAC units were not functional. But God provided when a local company generously offered to install new units. Once that work is completed, we can begin moving equipment into the facility.
In addition, God provided again when another donor has offered to cover the cost of a quality, commercial-grade refrigerator and freezer.
Meanwhile, our Pantry Ministry continues to experience increased usage as more people in our community learn that Thunder Mountain Church is a resource for those in need. Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and support as we prepare to expand our outreach in the community.
