Building Updates
Outreach Center
A local company is working to donate a new HVAC system. The delay is because the original project manager is no longer with the company, and the person who had been overseeing him was on vacation, but things are back on track. We will reveal details when that project is complete.
When AC is installed, then the floor will be worked on. The commercial refrigerator and freezer that we need have been donated. The refrigerator is in, and the freezer needs to be custom-made and will arrive shortly.
The new sign has been ordered for the building. The frame for the sign by the highway (which isn’t situated well on the property) will be removed, and at some point, a new sign will be erected on the corner of the property closest to Golden Acres Drive.
New Worship Center and Offices
The design-build firm, Churches By Daniels (CBD), has been leading us nicely through phase 2 of the design process. The next steps on their timeline are finishing Design Documents, producing Construction Documents, and securing all building permits. Together with our local Civil Engineers, we have been working hard on this project to save money and yet build what we need.
When completed, our current building will become a secure children’s facility, and our temporary office building will be replaced (and removed to make room for the street that will go through) with permanent offices that will be adequate for our current staff of 13 and be able to expand to allow for growth to over 30.
Not only will we have a seating capacity of 1,000, but also room for discipleship opportunities for people to linger on campus after worship gatherings or to meet during the week at our coffee shop. Don’t worry, our brewed coffee will always be free on Sundays, but we want our campus to be able to attract and hold people longer.
We are told by CBD that the current timeline has permitting completed at the end of March next year, so the “only” question will be financing, and when it is in place, we will be able to break ground, and about 18 months after that, the new facility will open. Just imagine celebrating Christmas there in 2028! It would be a miracle, but it is something that God can do through us to make happen in that timeframe.
Financing
Your generosity to the General Fund (GF) is what allowed us to purchase the Outreach Center on the highway and the additional 14 acres to the South of our current property. It was also your GF giving that made it possible to write a check for the final $33,300 needed to start production of the CareNet mobile unit.
It is also your giving to the GF that keeps the ministry humming and will ultimately determine how much we will be qualified to borrow in financing this project.
We say, “You can’t outgive God!” but we have to try before we can see what God is willing to do. We ARE focused on ministry, but we need to also raise money to build.
It is my prayer that we will be able to pay cash rather than borrow our way in so that the $50,000 that would go to service our mortgage (IF we are even able to borrow what we need) would instead fund our outreach. CAN YOU IMAGINE what we could do with those funds available for ministry?!?
When you give to the GF, you expand our ability to do ministry TODAY, and when you give to the Building Fund (BF), you expand our opportunities FOR THE FUTURE. Churches By Daniels tells us that THE FUTURE COULD BEGIN NEXT YEAR!
A Popular Way to Give . . .
Did you know that retirees 70.5 and older can make donations directly from their IRA to TMC without increasing their taxable income?
It’s called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), and when you reach 73, the donation will also count towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)!
If you have questions about how to make this happen, reach out to your financial advisor. You can also email our TMC Accountant at kristal@thundermountain.org or contact our Stewardship Director at joe@thundermountain.org
