Thoughts on the Supreme Court

Posted by Randy Youngblood, Lead Pastor on

Why do these kinds of accusations ONLY matter to someone when a person is being considered for the Supreme Court?

I think these accusations are not only meant to derail THIS candidate but prevent anyone with a moral compass from wanting to be considered for public service at this level ever again!

The “new ground” for these attacks (I’ve lived through Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, and now Robert Kavanaugh) is that NOW some maintain that YOUR CONDUCT IN HIGH SCHOOL is fair game!

Whether or not any of these accusations are true, it is being asserted that YOUR BEHAVIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL SHOULD BE USED TO EVALUATE YOU AS A PERSON THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

Scary? Yes or no?

Until now, your time in high school has gotten a pass because it was the time most of us were trying to figure out what kind of adult we wanted to be but not expected to already be living it out.

Fair or not, in the bigger picture, we should expect the truth to be revealed (not always before people) but certainly before God.

2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Luke 12:2–3 (NIV)

The problem here is that politicians will try to fashion truth when and if convenient for their own purposes while God reveals truth for His glory and our good.

In the meantime, pray not only for those who are serving, but also pray that the good and moral people whose reputations matter to them will be willing to serve in the future!

1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1–4 (NIV)

I feel like we should be encouraged by what is happening. 2 Timothy 3:2-5 and Isaiah 5:20-21 specifically address what is happening. I pray that my faith will increase when I see any of God’s Word come to pass, not just the verses that feel good. It just verifies that it is all true. Like Job, may I continue to realize that He is the God who gives and takes away and that it is all part of a plan where he uses bad for good. May I remember that I don’t have to understand and not be distracted and filled with negative feelings for the lost. God appoints the leaders. May we just be obedient to not take our freedom for granted. Kavanaugh is blessed to be persecuted for the sake of righteousness for his is the kingdom of heaven. May we pray for him to hold fast to his integrity and find encouragement from the body of Christ. He is not a victim but a light. May we pray for the lost who feel wise in their own eyes, they do not know what they are doing. May we keep an eternal perspective and remember where we came from and Who dragged us out of the pit. God’s will be done and His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
I Love our church ♥️
