Merry Christmas!

Posted by Randy Youngblood, Lead Pastor on

What does Christmas mean to you?  Cliches aside.  We all know “Jesus is the reason for the season”, but what does THIS Christmas mean to you?

As a child, it was the movie camera rolling to capture my surprise at what was under the tree Christmas morning...that wasn’t there Christmas Eve!  There is also the memory of laying behind the tree looking up through the branches at the lights.

Each transition from being a kid, to a parent, to a grandparent, has changed the meaning of “Christmas” and in the way it has been celebrated.

Now, Christmas is about the anticipation of our daughters and their families coming to our house and the joy of being all together on Christmas morning. It’s also the time spent while playing a round of golf with my two sons-in-law and my father-in-law the next day.  I don’t know how long this season will last, but I’m going to enjoy every moment while it does!  When this season is over, then our Christmas celebration will look different once again.

At times, the challenge can be to find the “merry” regardless of how Christmas is celebrated. Christmas can mean different things to different people, but because THE meaning of Christmas is a constant our merriment doesn’t need to change with the seasons of life. Even though how it is celebrated can change often through the years!

Love Came Down!

The story of our Christmas series is how God’s love has been a constant coming down from heaven throughout ALL of time!

God’s love began coming down when He created!

God’s love came down in the form of a promise to come win us back when the hearts of His creation were captured by sin!

God’s love continued to come down every time His promise endured repeated challenges by evil!

Ultimately, God’s Love Came down in the form of a baby who’s life was devoted, from the beginning of time, to fulfilling God’s promise to win us back!

Join us on Christmas Eve!

The Light of the World, Given for Us! will be celebrated four times this Christmas Eve!

We will have four (identical) Christmas Eve Experiences!

Sunday, December 24:
9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
3:00 and 4:30 p.m.

Christmas Offering

For nearly 45 years, the “Pro-Life” movement has become known more as anti-abortion than “pro-anything".  Carenet desires to present a message of hope and a future to people caught up in a time of fear when most people (like Adam and Eve) would hide from God.  By funding Carenet’s new website, we will fund a renewed vision of presenting the pro-life movement in our community by offering a message of “good news” when people think no such thing could be found!

Your gifts to our local Strategic Partner, Carenet, will be matched by TMCC (up to $5,000). This matching portion will go to our international Strategic Partner in the Philippines. They are in need of a vehicle to reach churches that are far away and some are in difficult traveling areas. The total cost of this vehicle is estimated to be $12,000.

Also, once Carenet’s needs are met, the remaining portion of your Christmas offering will go to the Philippine’s to help get them this much needed vehicle.

During the gatherings on the weekends of December 24 and December 30-31, special envelopes will be in the chairs in the auditorium. These envelopes have green ink for the Christmas Offering. You can also visit our website by clicking here to give using other methods. Please remember to designate #Christmas.

Looking Ahead . . .

Are you ever frustrated with your inability to keep your list of resolutions? I see how packed the gym is in January . . . for about two weeks (which is why gyms give discounts if you pay for the whole year in advance!).

What if . . . instead of creating a whole LIST of resolutions, you narrowed it down to one . . .  and that ONE was just ONE WORD?

How might that improve your chances for success?

Do you want to be a more patient person? Maybe you want more self-control? Do you wish you spoke with more kindness?

What ONE change might make the biggest difference in your life?

Join us starting January 6, for our new teaching series Your Best Year Yet! and find practical strategies to help make that come true!

Plans for December 30-31

The last weekend of the year is often one with the greatest blessing! We purposefully show a video message 2-3 times a year for various reasons. One reason is that you may be called to a church someday where video teaching is the norm. The other is that we get some special messages from different speakers! I PROMISE the weekend of December 30-31 will be one that will stick with you!

In the meantime, Justin (hopefully) will be having a baby and I’ll be getting ready to kick-off 2018...while enjoying time with family (instead of preparing a message for that weekend).

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
