Freedom of Speech!
When I taught math at Buena, I’d half-joke, “Every time a math teacher writes an equation on the board, he/she has to immediately prove whether or not it is true BUT teachers in other disciplines can say whatever they want; things that can’t be proven until after they die!”
Thursday morning on the news it was announced that an American icon had passed away. Hugh Hefner said a lot of things, didn’t he, about how life in America ought to be lived? He had no way of knowing for sure whether anything he said was true . . . until Thursday.
“One person’s opinion is as good as another’s BUT when God speaks, then only His opinion counts.”
Paul himself said, “If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 1 Corinthians 15:32b (HCSB)
Paul’s testimony is, “But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.” 1 Corinthians 15:20 (NLT)
SO, by faith, we believe what we cannot see yet and wait for God to speak and affirm that the testimony of His eyewitnesses is true! By faith, we live to please God rather than fulfill the desires that wage war against our souls! (see 2 Peter 2:11)
But as it is written: What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind—God prepared this for those who love Him.
1 Corinthians 2:9 (HCSB)
Truth is known only when we can no longer speak. Speech is free until we can no longer be heard and after that, what was said can be very costly.
